Dry zone cultivation

In my country many people who live in the dry zone areas mainly cultivate vegetables. Districts such as Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are well known for vegetable cultivation. Since these areas receive less rainfall compared to the wet zone, farmers depend heavily on irrigation systems for their cultivation. They usually take water from large reservoirs and tanks that were built many years ago. These reservoirs help farmers to supply water to their fields during dry season. Vegetable such as Brinjal, pumpkin, beans and tomatoes are commonly grown in these areas. Agriculture plays a vital role in the lives of people in the dry zone,as it is their main source of income. Through hard work and proper use of water resources. Farmers in these regions contribute greatly to the food supply of the country.
